"Mayumi vs. Rien: Page 1"
Medium: Ink, CG.

Mayumi's first duel. Basically, the challenge was a duel between Mayumi and Kaorien's Rien. It had to be between 5 and 10 pages, and there was to be no serious injury. Other than that, the sky was the limit.
Mayumi is a ronin (a samurai with no master. This is a black mark against her honor.) As such, she enjoys a wandering life, with no home and no steady income. As such, it's pretty common to find her sleeping under a tree, eating a meal that may well be her last for a couple days while she tried to figure out where to get some money for the next one, and bathing in the local streams. Needless to say, coming back from a dip in a local river and finding that someone is eating the last of your miso paste (The paste can be mixed with taisho to make miso soup) can be rather a big deal.
Rien... From the things I've read of her, and the duels I've seen in research, she seems like a pretty innocent and excitable soul. Exactly the sort who would find an unattended bowl of soup free game, and who would find a duel with a strange ronin woman to be a game.
I really feel proud of the expressions I gave Rien in panels 5 and 7. Panel 8 isn't too bad, though Rien looks a touch too placid. Panel 9 proves I should never be allowed anywhere near Chibis. Ever.
Oni are one of many types of ogre or demon in Japanese folklore. Usually they are depicted with red or blue skin, as opposed to Rien's very pale complexion (and lord, was her skin hard to shade because of that pale appearance!) However, this is the first time Mayumi has ever seen anyone not Japanese or Ainu, so Rien looks very weird to her. It's natural for her to assume Rien must be some weird forest demon. Of course, being called a demon would usually bother people...

I saw the first three pages of Kaorin's entry a couple days ago. Looked pretty awesome. You should check it out. I bet she totally kicks my butt. I wouldn't complain. Kao rocks.

Haha you sure comment long XD but since you commented for me I'll do the same for you~ at least for some and shortly, I'm really quite lazy XD;;
First off, I like how colorful you've made your entry, and forest background gives it a more sense of concrete setting. It's also really quite nice and clean. ^^ Panel 5 I think I definately like most, because Rien is definately in a constant state of either, confusion, curiosity, or joy and she certainly seems happy there. ^^
I suppose I would recommend that there could be less details on the nose? like the line on the side of the nose isn't really nessary, and if you want them to look younger, it helps to have less line ~
